(Psalm 119:165 AMP)

Let it Go!
In order to forgive people we need to let go of what they did to us and move on in our lives. If we do not do this it will hurt us more than it will hurt them. We will become physically and mentally sick because we are carrying something we were never meant to carry. We need to love and forgive people just like Jesus loved us and forgave us of all the things we have done wrong. When we love and forgive others we are living like our Heavenly Father, because the Bible says, 'God is love."

Forgiving someone sometimes can be the hardest thing to do. What does the bible say about this subject? Did Jesus talk about it? Did Jesus tell us how to forgive? Does forgiveness bring strength, power and healing to our bodies and our whole lives? Why is it so hard to do? How do we do it? Check out this powerful series by Pastor David and get ready to be blessed!!!
Part 1 - How to forgive with power.
Part 2 - Importance of forgiving yourself.
Part 3 - Jesus said forgiveness is strength, power & healing. FLOVE???
Jesus said 490 - #1 notes:
The importance of Forgiveness in our lives.
Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf - Technology proves when the human brain forgives, the human brain releases a chemical that floods your body and causes physical healing to take place. This explains when you forgive someone you feel good after you've forgiven them. And the opposite takes place when you don't forgive.
Jesus gave us the key to forgiveness.
Matthew 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”
Peter he was pretty smart here and had the answer Peter thought seven times should cover it.
22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!
In the book of Luke we see the same account of Jesus and the apostles say, “wow, that would be hard to forgive a person that many times, give us more faith for this Lord!”
Luke 17:4-5
5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.” … “Give us more faith”.
At least they knew what it took to forgive - Faith. = Believing and trusting in God.
But what operates Faith. How do we Believe and trust in God.
Galatians 5:6 says: Faith which only works by love.
Jesus did not choose the best looking, the most talented, the most educated, or the most likely to succeed. Jesus chose 12 ordinary, sinful, insecure people just like you - just like me.
Jesus chose a few fisherman, a tax collector, an accountant, and a political activist. Jesus nickname 2 of the guys sons of thunder. This wasn’t because they were born during storm. Their reputation for wild living preceded them.
Jesus friends were the most unlikely people to become disciples. They were partiers other day, the cheaters, the liars, the ones with the religious crowd despised. Jesus even hung around prostitutes. Jesus surrounded himself with the lowest, but the poorest, the outcasts. And that encourages me.
I am ordinary. How about you.
The Greek word for ordinary is Idiot, it means unskilled, unschooled.
Mark 11:20-27
25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
The word “and” is a conjunction. It joins what Jesus just finished saying to what He’s about to say.
He said that when we are praying, we have to do something. What do we have to do? Forgive! If we have aught (or anything) against anyone, we have to forgive.
Whether you realize it or not, a lack of compassion and an unwillingness to forgive others are the things that hinder us from receiving from God and from growing spiritually in our prayer life. FORGIVNESS EFFECTS OUR PRAYER LIFE.
You could make your faith confessions like that for a hundred years, but your faith simply will not work in an atmosphere of unforgiveness.
1 Peter 3:7
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; THAT YOUR PRAYERS BE NOT HINDERED.
Unforgiveness will hinder us from being what God wants us to be and from being who God wants us to be. But love sets us up in a high place. it is all about love.
The greek word Agapao means to love and to give a perfect future to someone.
1. Love is how we forgive others
2. Love is how we forgive ourselves
3. Love is how we have a relationship with God. It is how we get our prayers answered. Our Communication with God. We fellowship with the creator of forgiveness.
THAT IS WHY FORGIVENESS IS SO IMPORTANT.
Jesus said 490 times a day we are to forgive those around us.
HOW DO YOU DO THIS?-
YOU LOVE THE PERSON FIRST, NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO YOU AND THEN YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN FORGIVENESS.
NOW THIS VERSE MAKES SENSE.
Matthew 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”
22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!
BEING UNFORGIVING CAUSES A PERSON TO BE PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY WEAK, WE LEARNED IT BEAKS DOWN THE IMMUNE SYSTEM.
Can I say this - FORGIVENESS IS STRONG - IT IS A STRENGTH. NOT WEAKNESS - JESUS WAS AND IS STRONG BECASUE HE ALWAYS WALKED IN FORGIVNESS.
THE BIBLE SAYS GOD IS LOVE.
LET US LOVE AND FORGIVE OTHERS EVERYDAY.
Jesus said 490 - #2 notes:
What Jesus said about Forgiving people
Matthew 18:21-22
22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!
Jesus said we need to forgive others 490 times a day.
Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline leaf - Technology proves when the human brain forgives, the human brain releases a chemical that floods your body and causes physical healing to take place.
God is the only one who has the actual ability to forgive and forget.
The enemy knows that if he can get you into a relationship of unforgiveness with someone, he can affect your destiny. If he can rob you of your destiny, and rob you of God's plan for your life. The enemy does this through unforgiveness
Luke 23:33-34
34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”
Jesus responds here to rejection, pain, mocking, false accusations, emotional pain, physical pain and rejection, all the things we struggle with in our lives.
What did Jesus do here: He went to God first - we try to go horizontal deal with the problem.
Jesus said God forgive them they just don't know what they're doing. Through his crucifixion. Through His pain.
People were stoning him after he gave his message to the people:
Acts 7:59-60
60 He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.
Steven went to God first. “God I'm gonna forgive them”
Forgive in the greek means - TO RELEASE - to let it go
Mark 11 in the amplified translation says to drop it, leave it, and let go of it!
Peter saw that it takes faith to forgive people. and not just when we feel like it.
Why does it take faith?
I don't feel like forgiving
I don't want to
I'm going to do it because God asked me too
We are in church today, and so I know forgiveness is easy on Sunday. God is here, But you know what? Monday always comes.
How do we cement this Act of Faith?
Actions you can take to make forgiveness a reality in your life. Because in your heart you really want to forgive others.
How do we forgive?
Pray for them.
Matthew 5:43-45
44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven.
It is hard to get on our knees and pray for them. But as you do this before God - He starts doing something on the inside. You have to say God it is all yours. Jesus modeled this for me - so I do what Jesus says and I get results.
Bless them.
This is hard to do sometimes.
Luke 6:27
27 I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you.
Romans 12:14
14 Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them.
Bless in the Greek = Means to speak well of a person
This verse has to do more with your words than your actions. Saying nice things about people is important.
Do good to them or treat them with love.
Romans 12:15-20
19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
“I will take revenge; I will pay them back,”says the Lord.
IF I DO MY PART AND FORGIVE THEN GOD WILL DO HIS PART AND SERVE JUSTICE IF NECESSARY.
20 Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”
21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
DON’T LET WHAT SOMEONE DID TO YOU CONQUER YOU - YOU CONQUER EVIL BY DOING WHAT IS GOOD TO OTHERS.
Your new beginning for your life will begin with forgiveness - forgiveness will cause your destiny to explode and come to pass - what the enemy meant for harm to you - now you can choose and overcome by forgiveness in your life.
God has such an incredible plan for your life, so amazing, so big, so profound, so special, so planned for you to do. Don't let what someone did to you destroy your destiny.
Ephesians 4:32
32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Our take away from today’s message is this: Those forgiven by God will forgive others
Today I want you to rise up and take your destiny back for your life, don't let unforgiveness conquer you - you conquer unforgiveness with love.
Let's model with Jesus did: , Today let's take a moment and bring our prayers to God, and forgive those that I've done wrong and pain against us.
