Carol Joy Breed is an American artist whose creative journey began unexpectedly but beautifully in 2015. One Sunday after church, a professional oil painter—who owns Portico Fine Art Gallery and teaches art classes—approached Carol Joy and asked, “Would you like to take art lessons?” That simple question opened a door that transformed her life.
This artist generously blessed Carol Joy with free art lessons for over four years, investing time, skill, and encouragement that awakened Carol Joy’s God-given artistic abilities. Through those years of mentoring, Carol Joy discovered not only a new hobby, but a true passion.
Drawing early inspiration from Monet and the Impressionist masters, Carol Joy developed a natural eye for color, light, and movement. She quickly fell in love with creating landscapes and seascapes—scenes that reflect God’s beauty and bring peace, joy, and reflection to those who view them. Over time, she also experimented with various styles, allowing her creativity to grow freely and authentically.
Carol Joy sold her first painting when the owner of a small boutique invited her to display her artwork. She joyfully gave many of her art to friends and family. In 2022, she expanded her reach by joining Saatchi Art , where she sold her second painting. By 2023, she and her husband were traveling to churches across the United States, where she began selling her artwork in person—discovering how deeply her paintings ministered to people emotionally and spiritually. She began offering commissioned artwork that same year and completed her first commissioned piece at the end of 2023.

Every painting Carol Joy creates is for the glory of God. Her certificates of authenticity include Scripture verses that highlight how each piece reflects God’s creation. Her art is not just decorative—it is devotional, inspirational, and deeply connected to her prayer life.
Now residing in France, Carol Joy continues her artistic journey with new excitement and purpose. She has completed her first painting of Strasbourg and has finished her second. Her vision is to capture the beauty of France through her brush, creating works that celebrate both the natural world and the presence of God.
As co-founder of Association Life France, Carol Joy plans to integrate art into the heart of the association’s mission—offering:
• art galleries
• art classes for all ages
• creative workshops
• cultural engagement
• and opportunities for others to discover their God-given creativity.
Just as her mentor recognized her gift and helped her reach her potential, Carol Joy now hopes to do the same for others—helping them create, grow, and glorify God through artistic expression.

A Morning Walk

Haskell’s Beach, California

would like to call this painting "A Morning Walk". This was painted from a photo my husband took at Haskell's Beach, a beach just above Santa Barbara, CA. Imagine God making the ocean, the plants, the trees, the mountains, the birds and how they each are in so many different colors. In Genesis it talks about how He made everything and each day when he was finished, He saw that it was good. Let me share a portion, Genesis 1:9-10 says, Then God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered together so that the dry land will appear.” And it happened. God named the dry land “earth,” and he named the water that was gathered together “seas.” And God saw that this was good. This morning walk by the ocean reminds you that everything God madeis so beautiful. He made you and you are beautiful!
