Prayer

David’s Book:

The Basics of Prayer - Praying with confidence and getting results.

David wrote a book a few years ago. He translated in arabic. A give it to for free to read.

Introduction

Then they asked Jesus, “Lord teach us to pray.” Luke 11:1

When I first gave my life to Jesus the most important thing I could learn was to learn how to pray. I had no one to teach me. I went to a church that only taught about salvation and it seemed every time I left I had more questions than when I first arrived at church.

I just came out of Buddhism and gave my life to God and I was hungry to learn more truth. I wanted to learn how to pray. I was sitting on my couch, and I kept hearing on the inside of my heart, the word Crenshaw. Over and over and over again I kept hearing Crenshaw, Crenshaw, Crenshaw. So I opened up a telephone book to see if anything see if any church was named Crenshaw. And there was. It was in the most dangerous place in Los Angeles, Watts, California. It was called Crenshaw Christian Center.

The pastor was Frederick KC Price. And so I went, and that church was a Bible preaching church. I learned so much from being in that church, and I grew very quickly. They stressed on the importance of praying according to the word of God. And I have learned so much more since then, but I am so grateful for that church.

My heart was starting to get full as I learned how to pray accurately, and according to the Bible. I had never heard anyone else teach on the subject before. I was extremely excited and I was on track to get my prayers answered. This bible believing church taught me to pray.

This book is full of my personal notes that I have collected from my time as member of Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, California, from my time at Rhema Bible School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and from my own personal prayer, bible study time and the applying of God’s Word to my life. Through these principles I have received results in my prayer life with God.

Here are the subjects we will cover in this book.

1. Praying According to God's Word.

2. Asking The Father in Jesus' Name.

3. Praying & Expecting Results.

4. Praying & the Power of Forgiveness.

5. The Prayer of Agreement.

6. The Prayer of Thanksgiving.

7. Praying Paul’s Prayers.

8. Praying in Your New Heavenly Language.

9. Praying & Following The Holy Spirit.

10. 3 Prayer Secrets I have learned about Prayer & Flowing with the Holy Spirit.

These subjects changed the course of my life. These teachings will be the main principles I will teach in this book. I have condensed these notes for you the best that I could, to give you fundamental truths from the bible to help you. They have been a big blessing to me and my life. I hope they will be helpful to you, and also to your family, your friends and everyone you come in contact with.

1. Praying According to God's Word

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [a]breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12 (AMPC)

We need to be specific and precise in our prayer requests to God. These requests need to be based on God's Promises found in the Bible. We must learn the importance of the Word of God, the bible, in prayer. The bible says that faith begins where the will of God is known. And we know that God's Word, the words in the bible, are His perfect will for our lives.  The first thing we need to do is to find bible scriptures that definitely promise the things we are asking God for. If the Bible Scriptures don't promise you the things you are desiring, you don't have any business praying for those things over your life. And you should not want anything in your life that the Word of God says you shouldn't have.

We need to pray with confidence. We find that confidence in reading and applying God’s Word to our lives. It is simple. God is a good God and He wants the best for our lives. This is why we must go to the Word of God, The Bible , to see what His perfect will for our lives is. Once we know His perfect will for our lives we will be able to pray effectively and with confidence.  Once we find the bible scriptures that promise us what we desire from God, the next step is to get those bible scriptures firmly down inside our heart or we could say our spirit, not just thinking them in our minds. God is a Spirit, He is not a mind. The bible says God is our Father and He is the Father of Spirits. He is our Father.

 Hebrews 12:9

9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

God is the Father of spirits. We are a spirit and He is our Father. God wants us to get His Words, The Bible deep down into our heart, how do we do this? So glad you asked.

To do this, we will have to meditate on the Word of God, the Bible.

Joshua 1:88

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for THEN thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and THEN thou shalt have good success.

Another bible translation says, ". . . that thou mayest be able to deal wisely in the affairs of life." Success in life comes by meditating on God's Word. That's the way you'll build God's Word into your inner consciousness, into your spirit is to listen to it, read it and get it in your heart. The way you will have success in our lives is by what the Bible says about us.

As we read and feed our hearts on the Word God, we do this by meditating. Meditation is a deep contemplation, a turning over and around in our hearts and minds to gain greater understanding of God’s Word. It is letting God speak to us through His Word. The Bible is God speaking to you.  God is a good God and only wants us to have success in every area of our lives. We see this is God’s Heart for us through out His Word.

Jeremiah 29:11

11 “I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.

Success comes to us as we meditate, read, and study the Word of God. I cannot put enough emphasis on the importance of the Gods Word, the Bible, taking first place in our lives. It's the most important thing I have in the world and it is the most important thing you have in this world.

The truths of the Bible is God speaking to us. The Bible will change our lives every day as we read it. Take time every day to read His Word and learn the power of His Word.  The Bible says there is power and life in His Word, and God’s Word is alive and full of power.

Hebrews 4:12

12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

The Word of God is the most important and accurate  tool we have when we pray. We must pray, according to the Word of God to get the results and success we are desiring.  We want to have God results in our lives. We want to have successful results in every area of our lives. God our Father wants us to have these results every time we pray.

James 1:17

17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

God loves us. He has so much to give us and everything He wants to give to us is perfect from heaven. So in order to have these perfect gifts, we need to learn how to pray correctly, and in order to pray correctly, we need to know it only comes from praying according to the Bible, God’s Holy Written Words.

2. Asking the Father in Jesus Name

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. - John 16:23,24

Jesus is our Mediator, Intercessor, Advocate, and our Lord. He stands between us and the Father. In no place in the Bible is it recorded that Jesus told His disciples to pray to Him. They were always to pray to the Father in His Name.  If we want to be sure our prayers are reaching the throne of God, we must pray according to the rules given to us in the Word of God. The Word of God is the Bible. The Bible is God speaking to us. Notice that Jesus said, "... in that day ye shall ask me nothing." Jesus gave these instructions to His disciples and us today just before He went to His Father in Heaven.

Jesus was talking about when He would ascend to heaven and sit at His Fathers right hand. He said, "In that day you will not pray to me." Jesus said you will be asking what you need from to the Father in His Name. “In Jesus Name.” There is no other way to pray.  We can speak to Jesus and tell Him how much we love Him and appreciate Him, but when it comes to praying and asking, we must ask the Father through the Name of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 3:14,15

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.

It is not important what church you belong to, but it is important whose family you belong to.

Many people know about praying to God, but they know nothing about praying to the Father. When you hear them pray they don't sound as if they really know God. He is God to the world, but Father to me. There is real joy in knowing that the Father will answer our prayers.

When I first gave my life to Jesus the most important thing I could learn was to learn how to pray. I had no one to teach me. I went to a church that only taught about salvation and it seemed every time I left I had more questions than when I first arrived at church. I was just talking to God one day about my hunger to learn more about the bible.

The first thing I learned in getting my prayers answered from the Word of God, The Bible, was that I needed to Pray to the Father and Seal that Prayer, using the Name of Jesus.

The Name of Jesus is the seal, or the stamp that will guarantee the prayer you have prayed will be answered.  This is the key to success in praying, having confidence in the Name of Jesus when you pray. In Jesus own words, He is saying, “when you pray and end the prayer with my name,  I will personally see to it that your prayer comes to pass.” As you can see here there is no doubt in His voice when He says this to His disciples.

JOHN 16:23,24

23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Jesus, at the end of this verse says that when you ask you will receive, and that your joy will be full. This excites me. Jesus cares about us so much, wants our requests in prayer to be completed so much that He wants us to have full of joy in our prayer life. He is backing up these prayers when you pray in his name. Jesus is saying here it is a joy to pray and get your prayer answered. Jesus says you will have full joy. Joy is a result of your prayer life.

Let's take joy in using the Name of Jesus. Let's get all of our prayers answered and bring God glory by using the name of Jesus.

3. Praying and Expecting Results

This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us. And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him. - 1 John 5:14-15

We are to pray in the Name of Jesus to the Father. We are to pray for results. If results do not follow, then our prayer life is not working.

God’s desire for everyone is that when we pray, and every time we pray, we get exactly the results and the answer which we are praying for and nothing less.  Most people don't expect God to answer their prayers, but in God's Word is full of people from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation who dared to take God at His Word and believed He would answer their prayers. Their prayers were answered.  These people are great examples for us to study, because these men and women in the Bible weren't perfect, they were ordinary people like us, they were flawed, they made mistakes, and yet God did extraordinary things through them because they believed God would do what He said he would do. They had a great expectation that God would do what He said He would do.  They took God's Word as God personally speaking directly to them. They made the Bible personal.  In order for us to have the same results, we need to make the Bible God's personal message speaking directly to us. God's Word is God speaking to us.

Expect results in your prayer life. Expect your prayer life to grow. Jesus never taught failure. Jesus only taught growth, increase, and multiplication. Jesus always expected results.  Praying and expecting results is shown to us from the book of Genesis all the way through to the book of Revelation. We need to be expecting growth in our lives.

Here are a few Bible scriptures that will show you that we can expect to have growth, increase and multiplication in our lives.

Ezekiel 36:37

... I will increase them with men like a flock [multitude] of sheep. 38.... So will the emptied cities be filled with flocks [multitudes] of men …

2 Corinthians 9:10

… He that gives seed to the sower ... will multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

Deuteronomy 7:13

He will love you, and bless you, and multiply you: he will also bless the fruit of your womb [body], and the fruit of your land, your corn, and your wine, and your oil, the increase of your cattle, and the flocks of your sheep …

1 Corinthians 3:6

God gave the increase

Job 8:7

… Though your beginning was small, yet your later end should be greatly increased

Psalms 71:21

You will increase my greatness, and comfort me…

Psalms 115:14

The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

Psalms 85:12

… Yes, the Lord will give to you that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

Growth, increase and multiplication is God’s promise to us. Gods laws of expectation and growth belong to us.

Here are some things to speak over yourself:

“Let these bible scriptures of truth [growth, increase and multiplication] move in your heart. Don't limit God by speaking in terms of doubts and limits. Let this law of growth become so much a part of you that in the face of would be failure and set back, you won't even think twice. You know that the law of growth is operating. God's Word cannot change. Let God be true and every man a liar.”

"God will increase the fruits of your righteousness."

“ I believe in the laws of the Spirit. I believe in the law of increase more than the law of failure. Do you know why? Jesus teaches the law of increase. Satan teaches the law of failure. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ. He will increase your fruits. You will see more people won to Christ. You will see your words that are spoken in faith in Jesus' name come to pass. I believe God. I do not believe the enemy. God says, He will increase my fruits in righteousness. This is my law. I will believe God. “

"I confess that God will multiply me.”

God wants us to expect growth in every area of our lives. We are still talking about praying and expecting for results in our prayer life. I just wanted to take a minute to increase your faith and expectation in what God can do for you in your life. We need to expect results in every area of our life. This is God's will for us.  We should always pray expecting results. There is no use praying if we are not praying for results. God does hear and answer our prayers. He wants to hear and answer your prayer. God did not put all these statements in the Bible about prayer just to fill up space. They are there for our benefit. God wants us to remember His Words and speak His Words. His Words bring results.

Isaiah 43:25,26

25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. 26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

Notice that God said, "Put me in remembrance." Those who have been mighty in prayer have always been those who reminded God of His promises and brought His Word before Him.

Charles Finney was a man of God known for his revival meetings and his incredible prayer life. When he prayed he expected God to move and answer his prayers. He is known as the man who prayed down revivals. He had the greatest success and his converts were the most consistent since the days of the apostle Paul. It is common knowledge that 85% of his converts remained true to God. Whole cities were influenced endgame their lives to God because of his prayer life.

Charles Finney prayed for revival. He was a real man of prayer. He said that he had some experiences in prayer that shocked him. One day as he was praying and he found himself saying to the Lord, "Lord, You don't think that we are not going to have a revival here, do You? You don't think that You could withhold Your blessings?" He found himself reminding the Lord what He had promised. Faith and expectation like this pleases God.

George Whitfield, another minister, was a man who expected God to answer his prayers. He went on a ship from England to America and preached on the streets in America. He was speaking in the public square in Boston, Massachusetts. When he began to preach, people climbed up into trees because they were not able to see him preach because the crowd was so large. Whitfield told them to come down from up in the trees, because when he preached God’s Word to the people the power of God would come on the people and they would fall out of the trees onto the ground. This kind of expectation pleases God.  God results always follow when you speak and pray God’s Word.

Smith Wigglesworth, another minister, said that God delights in His children having the audacity of faith to say, "God, You have promised it, so now do it." These are words of expectation knowing God’s promises are real, and He will accomplish in our lives the things He said he would do for us.

Whatever you are praying about, stand your ground until the victory you are expecting and believing for is manifested. You have solid ground on which to stand on. God will to send you the answer to your prayers.

4. Praying & the Power of Forgiveness

Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. - Luke 23:32

This one of the first types of prayer that the Lord taught me about was is the prayer of forgiveness. When I came to Lord Jesus Christ, this was the first area in my life He told me I needed to work on. I had been hurt by many people in my life. And I had to learn to forgive others.

The biggest thing I learned about forgiving others is let go of what happened to you, forgive them and to keep moving on forward and act as though nothing never happened. This is how God treats us, He forgives us, forgets the mistakes we have done and moves forward with life.  I also did many bad things in my life, and I had to ask God to forgive me. But the biggest thing was that I had to learn to forgive myself. And move on as well.

When a Christian name is Stephen was being stoned by the Jews he had every right to be angry with them. Because they were wrong for stoning him. But the Bible tells us he chose the opposite of what most people would do. The Bible tells us the he chose love and forgive those that were hurting him. All throughout the Bible, you will see people that chose to forgive. The Bible has a lot to say about forgiveness and calls it a supernatural strength.

The key to forgiveness is found in the words of Stephen as he was being stoned.

Acts 7:54-60

54-56 At that point they went wild, a rioting mob of catcalls and whistles and invective. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, hardly noticed—he only had eyes for God, whom he saw in all his glory with Jesus standing at his side. He said, “Oh! I see heaven wide open and the Son of Man standing at God’s side!

57-58 Yelling and hissing, the mob drowned him out. Now in full stampede, they dragged him out of town and pelted him with rocks. The ringleaders took off their coats and asked a young man named Saul to watch them.

59-60 As the rocks rained down, Stephen prayed, “Master Jesus, take my life.” Then he knelt down, praying loud enough for everyone to hear, “Master, don’t blame them for this sin”—his last words. Then he died.

Saul was right there, congratulating the killers.

These should be the same words coming out of our heart when people are doing wrong to us. We should be saying, “Father, these people just don't know any better. If they knew better, they would not be doing what they're doing to me.” This is a powerful and supernatural Bible truth.

The importance of forgiving yourself.

The hardest person in your life to forgive will always be yourself.

In a recent survey, the question was asked: “Who is the hardest person in your life to forgive? Is it your ex spouse? Is it your ex boss? Is it your parents and how they trained you as a child? Answer might be surprising to you. 95% of the people they surveyed all had the same answer. 9 1/2 out 10 people had the same answer: The hardest person for me to forgive is myself, the one I see in the mirror.  Some people do not fulfill the destiny of their lives because they're stuck in unforgiveness, cannot let go of the past and the people that hurt them.  Let's take a look at this supernatural power of forgiveness that Jesus teaches us about here in the Bible.

Matthew 18:21

21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

Have you been hurt by others? Have you hurt yourself? God is going to set you free today. Because unforgiveness is affecting your prayer life, it is affecting your worship time, it is affecting your relationships with other people, it is affecting your health.

We have to realize that we are not perfect, no one is perfect. When we look at the Bible and all the mighty men and women who were used by God. They were full of  character flaws.

Abraham lied, Sara laughed at the promises of God, Moses stuttered, David's armor did not fit him, John Mark was rejected by Paul, Timothy had ulcers, Hosea’s wife was a prostitute, Jacob was a liar, David had an affair, Solomon was too rich, Abraham was too old, Timothy was too young, Lazarus was dead, Noah got drunk, Moses had a temper, Peter was a liar and a coward, Thomas was a doubter, Jonah ran from God, Jeremiah was depressed and even suicidal, and Paul was a murderer.  What made these men and women strong is that they relied on God to stay strong and they chose to forgive people. They continued only to walk forward in their lives. Never backwards. They had great confidence that no matter what they did in their lives God was going to forgive them and help them move forward in life. And He did.

What is it that you have done in your life that you think that God would not forgive you? What is the issue you struggle with over and over and over again. Nothing you could possibly do that. God will not forgive you. God always forgive you no matter what you did or do. He always here to help you.

The apostle Paul was a man who persecuted Christians, and watched many of them die for their faith. Could God ever use a man like that? Could God ever forgive a man like that? The answer is yes.

It doesn't matter what you've done in your past. It is time to let go of the past and move on with God. You need to ask God to forgive you and He will.  If God could use a man like Paul, who persecuted in kill Christians, he can use you too. Can God use you because of your past? Yes. The apostle Paul went on to write 2/3 of the New Testament. God could use Paul because he let go of his past.

Philippians 3:13-14

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Acts 20:24

24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Paul knew the secret of life. The secret of life was to forgive yourself and others, and to keep moving forward, always looking to God. What I have learned in life is that if you keep just looking at the past, you'll never go forward.

Look Jesus family history. Jesus didn't come from the perfect family, Jesus had 4 women in his family history, 2 of them Tamar and Rehab were prostitutes, 1 of them Bathseba she was an adulterer, and 1 of them Ruth she was a wanderer, just traveling from place to place. And God still chose to use Jesus.

1. How do you to forgive yourself?

God wants you to bring your life before Him. He wants to talk with you. He wants to help you.

Isaiah 1:18

18 “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord.

God is saying here I want to settle and finish this once and for all with you. I want to help you. He is saying to you today, “the issue of forgiving yourself, I want to settle it right now.”

The Bible verse goes on to say:

“Though your sins are like scarlet, Although they're very visible and you can see them I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”

We know that our christian performance is not based on ourselves, our christian performance is based on the blood of Jesus Christ. Forgiveness is not earned like in the old testament, forgiveness is just personally received in the New Testament through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Paul had to forgive himself for all he did, he teaches us that if we live in the this body of flesh and it is not always going to be easy.

Romans 7:15

15 I don’t really understand myself.

Aren't you glad you're like Paul.

Romans 8 (NLT)

8 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

How do we get unstuck from our past. We have to stop trying to earn forgiveness from God. Let me tell you something about forgiveness, you cannot earn it. You can only receive forgiveness.

Psalm 103:11-12

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God is faithful and always will forgive our sins and cleanse us of any wrongdoings. It will be up to us to move forward in our lives after we prayed.  Having confidence of what He says is true. God never lies. We can have a great confidence that we are completely forgiven when we ask God to forgive us.

 2. You have to defeat every lie with the truth.

One of the devils names in the bible is the adversary of your soul. He try to put bad thoughts in your mind.  Jesus said the devil speaks his native language. The devil is a lier.

John 8:44

44 You belong to your father, the devil… he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Your enemy, the devil, his native language is called lying, even when he is speaking the truth, he is telling a lie. Your enemy can quote scripture and twist it so it is a lie, when he speaks to you, the whole thing is a lie. So you need to confront every lie with the truth. The Word of God is TRUTH. The Bible says God is love, and He loves you very much. He would never lie to you. Destroy every lie with the Word of God.

3. Allow God to turn your life around for good.

In the Bible Joseph was disowned by his brothers, sold into slavery, and was in jail for most of his life. This was a 14 year journey for him. He had a very hard life. But he never looked back. He always stayed positive in life, no matter what the situation. He always trusted God, and always forgave people no matter what they did to him. Here is his own words:

Genesis 50:20

20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

God used his past and made him great man. God can use your past and make you great.

King David made many mistakes, but today if you went to Israel he is revered all the people. He learned a very important point for life. If you will forgive yourself God can make your past help your future.  We forgive ourselves. This is our new way to live as Christians.

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

It is important for us to forgive ourselves, and let the past go in our lives. Only then can we can move onto greater things with our God. God loves us, let it go, forgive yourself and move on today. God will turn around your life for good.

There is strength, power and healing in forgiveness.

Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf says,

“Technology proves when the human brain forgives, the human brain releases a chemical that floods your body and causes physical healing to take place. This explains when you forgive someone you feel good after you've forgiven them. And the opposite takes place when you don't forgive.”

Being in unforgiveness with another person causes the person in unforgiveness to be physically, weak, emotionally week, and scientist have found out it actually breaks down the bodies immune system.

How can we walk out our life  forgiving others, as well as for giving ourselves? What is the one key to operating in forgiveness all the time?

Matthew 18:21-22

21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”

Peter thought he was pretty smart here and had the perfect answer to Jesus question.  Peter thought seven times forgiving a person would be really good.

22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

Peter was shocked by Jesus reply.

Luke 17:5

5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.” … “Give us more faith”.

At least they knew what it took to forgive. They said, “give us more faith.” It takes using our faith to forgive.  Faith means that we are believing and trusting in God. But what operates Faith? How do we believe and trust in God?

Galatians 5:6

Faith which only works by love.

Jesus did not choose the best looking, the most talented, the most educated, or the most likely to succeed people to follow Him. Jesus chose 12 ordinary, sinful, insecure people just like you and just like me.  Jesus chose a few fisherman, a tax collector, an accountant, and a political activist. Jesus had nicknames for 2 of the guys, “sons of thunder”. This wasn’t because they were born during lightning storm. Their reputation for wild living preceded them. Jesus friends were the most unlikely people to become His disciples. They were the ones who had wild parties, the cheaters, the liars, the people that the religious crowd despised. Jesus even hung around prostitutes. Jesus surrounded himself with the lowest, the poorest, the outcasts. And that encourages me. I am ordinary. How about you?

Mark 11:25

25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

The word “and” is a conjunction. It joins what Jesus just finished saying to what He’s about to say. He said that when we are praying, we have to do something. What do we have to do? Forgive! If we have anything in our heart against anyone, we have to forgive.

Unforgivness affects our prayer life.

Whether you realize it or not, a lack of compassion and an unwillingness to forgive others are the things that hinder us from receiving from God, and from growing spiritually in our prayer life.   You could make your good faith confessions for a hundred years, but your faith simply will not work in an atmosphere of unforgiveness.

1 Peter 3:7

7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; THAT YOUR PRAYERS BE NOT HINDERED.

Unforgiveness will hinder us from being what God wants us to be, and from being who God wants us to be. But love will always set us up in a high place. Life is all about love.

The word love in the Greek is Agapao.  The meaning of the word is to love and to give a perfect future.

1. Love is how we forgive others

2. Love is how we forgive ourselves

3. Love is how we have a relationship with God.

When we pray we are fellowshipping with the creator of forgiveness. Love, faith and forgiveness is how we get our prayers answered.  When we forgive we have strong faith. Jesus told us in order to operate in strong faith we have to forgive other people that have done wrong to us.  Jesus told us that our faith won't work unless you're operating in forgiveness with other people.

Mark 11:22-26 - Jesus teaches us about Faith, Forgiveness and Prayer

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Most people the teach on faith stop there. They say, isn't it great to have faith, but Jesus goes on, and says this, if you don't forgive your prayer life will not work, because the Father God won't forgive you. Let's continue on and read the rest of Jesus statement here:

25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

Jesus plainly states in here that our faith will not work unless we are operating in forgiveness. There is tremendous power in forgiveness.

Forgiving is a big key to living a successful life with God. Forgiving is a big key to living healthy lives. Jesus gives us one of the biggest secrets to our prayer life is to always have a forgiving heart. It doesn't matter what people do to us. Forgiveness is the key.

5. The Prayer of Agreement

The foundation scripture for the prayer of agreement is:

Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. - Matthew 18:18-20

We  are now going to be talking about the supernatural prayer of agreement. As we know all prayer is from the heart, so the prayer of agreement is when two or more people get together and pray about the results they are looking for together and then will come to an agreement in their hearts that which they are believing for WILL come to pass.

Jesus is saying here that if any two people come together and pray that which is in agreement with the Word of God, He would be right there with them in the middle of that agreement prayer and make sure it WILL come to pass.

This is a powerful prayer to use when you need that extra strength of faith from another person to help get your prayers answered. This is a supernatural prayer from the heart. The agreement comes from the heart not the head. This is not a mind prayer, it is a heart prayer between two or more people. This is a prayer that you pray in faith together with another person. Some people might say they will agree with you in prayer but are they really just using their words to sound spiritual. Don’t waste your time with these people. It is important to know when you pray this prayer make sure you know the other person or persons you will be praying with will be in faith with you for the answer to come to pass. And make sure you have bible scriptures that you are praying that promise you the answer. You are agreeing together in prayer that answer will manifest and the victory will be yours.

I will always pray the prayer of agreement with my wife Carol Joy or with my pastor and when we complete the prayer saying “amen” I know the prayer is done. The answer is on the way and I stay in faith no matter what it looks like until I see the answer manifested. Whether you feel something or not, we do not live by feelings we live by faith. Faith says what I have asked for will be done accomplished without a shadow of a doubt. Faith says the answer is mine now. Remember Jesus is in the middle of this prayer to make sure it WILL come to pass. This is a powerful and an important prayer.

6. The Prayer of Thanksgiving

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. - Psalm 136:1

Expressing our thanks to God is an integral part of worship for every believer. The Bible is filled with examples of individual people, groups, the early church and angels giving thanks to God.

The psalmist David worshipped God with thanksgiving for what He had already done for him and for what He was going to do for him in the future. In looking at the lives of Jesus, the Apostle Paul, and men and women in the Early Church, we can see how they worshipped God through thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was a normal part of their everyday lives.

In the upper room, Jesus gave thanks as he was teaching his disciples to receive the holy communion.

Matthew 26:26-29

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.

In our personal lives thanksgiving to God is our act of worship. It is also a way we can truly tell God how much we love Him and how thankful we are for Him being in our lives.

The Bible is filled with wonderful passages of people sharing their hearts to God.

1 Chronicles 16:34 (KJV)

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!

1 Chronicles 29:13 (KJV)

Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name

Psalm 100:4 (KJV)

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

Psalm 107:1

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!

Psalm 107:8-9

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

Isaiah 12:4-5

And on that day you will say, "Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted." Praise the LORD in song, for He has done glorious things; let this be known throughout the earth.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

2 Corinthians 9:15

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

I have learned over the years that God truly likes it when you spend time thanking Him for all He has done for you. When you begin to thank Him He shows up in a mighty way in your life. This a powerful way to fellowship, spend time praying and building a relationship with Him. If you want to live a pure life and a supernatural fresh life with God everyday, just start thanking Him, and watch how He shows up in your life.  The prayer of thanksgiving is the spirit of praise. Whether you are just talking to God, thanking Him for all He has done for you, or you are just singing a song of thanksgiving, He loves spending time with you. Take time today and spend time with God. He loves you!

7. Praying the Prayers of Paul

The apostle Paul knew how to pray effectively.

… pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God… - Colossians 1:9-10

The apostle Paul wrote letters in the New Testament specifically to the Holy Spirit churches he started. He loved all the churches he started and wanted them to continue strong for God. His desire for these churches was to pray the most effectual prayers possible. He always wanted his church members to pray to see God, in a fresh new way and grow in their relationship with Him. He wanted his church members to grow up strong and be mature Christians quickly.  He wanted them to see God’s great future for them and know God better than they ever had before. He wanted them to consistently be growing with God.

These traits can be seen very clearly through his writings and in his prayers. And we can still use these powerful prayers Paul wrote to his church today.

I learned early in my Christian walk that I can personalize and pray these prayers for myself, and those around me. As I started learning about these prayers and implementing them in my life every day I saw changes happening to me. I was able to see and read the Bible clearly. I was praying these prayers I was becoming more hungry for the things of God. And the more read these prayers, I became more determined to do the will of God for my own personal life. I am still confessing and speaking these bible scriptures daily over myself, my family, our ministry and partners of our ministry.

I first came across these prayers as I was reading the Bible and later on saw others praying these same prayers. These people had more revelation concerning these prayers than I did and so I learned from them. These prayers made my faith grow strong. This is important to know that we can make our faith stronger as we spend time, in the Word of God. These prayers have changed my life and I know they'll do the same for you.  Learn to pray these personally over your life. Personalize the scriptures, where Paul says “you” put your own name. Also, pray these bible scriptures for others. As I said before, we pray these over our ministry partners every morning.

Let's take a journey into the prayers of Paul, the apostle Of God. Read along with Paul and personalize them for yourself.

Ephesians 1:15-23

15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 3:14-21

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 6:18-20

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Colossians 1:9-14

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 4:3-6

3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, 4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

2 Thessalonians 3:1

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you,

Another Prayer, I pray personally for myself and others is from the words of Paul:

1 Corinthians 2:4-5

4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

I like to pray the same prayer John prayed for when he prayed for people. This is a great prayer to pray for yourself and others:

3 John 2

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

There are so many more bible scriptures and prayers in the Bible that you can pray over yourself and others. I know most people will pray Psalm 23 or Psalm 91 over themselves, my wife and I do all the time, this is great and powerful.  Bible scriptures I just listed are just a taste to give you some insight and information so you can pray effectually over yourself and others just like Paul prayed over his churches.

8. Praying in Your New Heavenly Language

And these [supernatural] signs will follow those who believe…they will speak with new tongues… - Mark 16:17

There are over 100 bible scriptures talking about the importance of the Holy Sprit being in our lives. I want to spend time in this chapter on the subject of the Holy Spirit and the importance of praying in your new heavenly language.  The Holy Spirit was so important to the life of Jesus that He spent the last hours in His life before going to the cross talking to His disciples about the Holy Spirit. Here in the upper room, over dinner, Jesus talks about the importance for them to receive the person of the Holy Spirit.

John 14 - Jesus Promises Another Helper

16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you

John 16 -  The Holy Spirit Will Be Everything To You

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

Jesus did not stop talking about the Holy Spirit. After Jesus rose from the dead He spent the next 40 days on the earth teaching His disciples and talking about the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1: 3-4, 8 - Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

After these 40 days were completed Jesus told His disciples and followers He was now going to heaven. He told them they were to go to the upper room and wait for the promise of the Father. He commanded them not to go anywhere until they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus told them the baptism of the Holy Spirit will give them the power to live a victorious life and also give them the power to preach the good news of Jesus Christ around the world.

Let’s keep reading:

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus was then lifted up to heaven and out of their sight. After this the disciples and many others went back to the upper room and waited for the promise of the Father. The total of people that went into the upper room to pray was 120 people.  Jesus talks much about the precious Holy Spirit and if Jesus says we need the baptism of the Holy Spirit then we need the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit? What is praying in your new heavenly language?

This new language Jesus wants us all to have is powerful. It is a heavenly spiritual language. It is from the heart not from your head. With this new language you will have the power of the Holy Spirit to pray beyond your mind, beyond your intellect, beyond your understanding. You will be praying with your spirit, your heart in a new language. A language from heaven. A language, God only understands, a language that will be more effective in prayer.  There are times you don’t know what to pray. Now you have a new way to pray. You will be able to pray for your future and make the road ahead smoother to walk out. I think I'm getting ahead of myself, so let’s read about the time this promise of God was fulfilled.

Acts 2:1-4 - Day of Promise, Coming of the Holy Spirit

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This is such an historical time in history. This is the recorded event in time of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

I love what my wife Carol Joy says about this event in her book, “ The Holy Spirit, Here on Earth, A Gift From Jesus”.  Here is an excerpt from her book.

“They were baptized in the Holy Spirit.  God had a strategic plan for this specific day.  This event was the very first time in the history of the Holy Spirit was coming upon people and filling them.  The Holy Spirit wanted to make a grand entrance so that it could spread quickly and there was no doubt of what happened.  He wanted this entrance not to just be for the people in the upper room to receive the Holy Spirit of God, but for thousands to notice what happened so that they would also receive instantly and spread like wildfire. That is what ends up happening soon in this chapter.

The  Initial Sign

Notice that when they received and were filled with the Holy Spirit that the initial sign or evidence was speaking with other tongues.  Maybe you think that this is strange and unusual.  Well, it is unusual, but it is another language.  If someone speaks in German or Polish or Spanish and you haven’t been taught these languages, then you cannot understand what they are speaking.  These are native tongues to these countries.  It just sounds like gibberish.  Well, it is the same when you are speaking in tongues by the Spirit. It is a Spiritual language or dialect that only God can understand, and He gives you the utterance.  This language is from Heaven.  I like to call it your Heavenly language.

The Spirit’s native tongue comes from Heaven.  We don’t understand it, the devil doesn’t understand it, but God understands you because you are praying from your spirit by the unction of the Holy Spirit. And He can use us to pray in this Heavenly language and be able to pray His perfect will in situations.  Strategies of God!  God is a genius and when we get into God’s flow, then we can be more than conquerors and get things done that we could not do in and of ourselves.

Praying God’s Best

He can use us to pray out things for situations and circumstances that we need His help since He knows best!  That way we are praying God’s best for situations and circumstances and keeps our selfish thoughts and ways out of it.  Speaking in tongues is an amazing benefit for each of us.

Time to Pray and Receive

I want to make sure that you have Jesus as your Lord and Savior, because you need Him first before you can be filled with the Spirit.  So, I will give you another opportunity to receive Jesus and then ask the Holy Spirit to baptize you.  Now you must take the first step, open your mouth, use your voice, and move your tongue! Let those heavenly words start flowing out of your mouth.  You can do this!  Just act now!  Be bold and don’t speak in your native tongue, but let other words start flowing that you don’t know.

Pray this prayer:

Father God, I believe you, I believe your son, Jesus, died and was raised from the dead for me. I confess Jesus, as Lord of my life.  I thank you for your saving power.  Holy Spirit, I ask you now, to fill me, come upon me and give me utterance in a new tongue. I believe I receive and by faith I will speak in a new tongue, in Jesus Name.

Take time to focus on Him and get into His presence right now…

Believe You Received the Infilling of the Holy Spirit!

I believe you received.  You can start and stop praying in your heavenly language anytime you want.  You can pray anytime anywhere.  Just do it under your breath if you are around people that may not understand what you are doing.  Just keep it going when you can.  The more you speak the more will come out.  Hallelujah!  Don’t let the enemy tell you that it really didn’t happen.  He is a deceiver and wants you to think it was just you.  Well guess what?  It was you!  And the Holy Spirit gave you the utterance!  It’s yours by the unction of the Holy Spirit of God.”

A special thank you to Carol Joy for this excerpt from her book, “ The Holy Spirit, Here on Earth, A Gift From Jesus”.

9. Praying & Following the Holy Spirit

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. - Romans 8:14

We will need to have patience we learn to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in our prayer life. It will take time for us to learn how to follow Him. Again, as we were talking about prayer, we must always remember. We are praying from our heart not our head, or mind.  What we have to remember is that we are a spirit and that is how God leads us, because He is a spirit. God is not a mind, God is a spirit so we need to follow His spiritual steps in our lives to be successful. Before we were born again, we would look to what we could only see with our eyes, and we would listen to what people would tell us as direction for our lives. But once we give our lives of Jesus Christ, we look on the inside.

Now that we are born again, and filled with the Holy Spirit, there's a better way for us to live. A super natural way of life. We now look at the heart, the spirit, that's where our help comes from, that's where the Holy Ghost lives and abides, and He is going to talk to us, and speak with us, and direct us.  If we look only to our ears or our eyes we will not be able to be follow the Holy Spirit. We are talking about hearing from God, we’re not talking about hearing God with our physical ears. We’re talking about hearing Him in our spirit.  Where will you hear His voice? In your heart, or we can say in your spirit. We don't use our mind to hear Him. He is not a mind. He is a Spirit, He is the Holy Spirit.  You are a spirit. That is where you are going to know His voice, in your spirit.

Jesus said that is Father God is a Spirit.

John 4:24

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Paul called God, “the Father of spirits.”

Hebrews 12:9

… shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

So we know in order to hear God and talk to Him we need to do so with our heart, our spirit. God talks to us heart to heart. Spirit to spirit.

The Holy Spirit Loves You!

The Holy Spirt loves you so much. He only wants success for you in every area of your life. It does not matter what problems you may face in life, He will always be there for you. You don't believe me, hear these Words of Jesus:

John 14:26

The Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.

The Holy Spirit has supernatural wisdom to help you out of every problem, circumstance, and situation you may be facing in life. The Holy Spirit is our Helper in life.  People will ask to you, “How did you get such an amazing answer to such a complex problem?”  They will be wondering how you are always rising to the top in your life. The answer is the Holy Spirit. He will always make you look like a genius. This is why it is so important to follow Him and the direction He has for your life. It is in His footsteps we will have success in our lives.

The Holy Spirit is your Prayer Teacher.

As we learn to pray, the Holy Spirit is our great prayer teacher. We need to have patience and confidence that we will grow in our walk as we are walking together with the Holy Spirit in prayer.  The Holy Spirit will always agree with the Word of God. He will always agree with the Words of Jesus. Jesus tell us the Holy Spirit will only reveal to us the Words He says to us.

John 16:14

He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you.

The Holy Spirit will always lead us forward in our lives in perfect unity with the Word of God. The Word of God and the Holy Spirit will always agree. They will both have the same matching answer to your problems, circumstances, or situations. As we said earlier the Word of God, the Bible, is God speaking to you. It will always be the final authority in your life. Jesus said, we know the Holy Spirit’s voice, and we will know how to follow Him.

John 14:16-17

16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Jesus gives us confidence here that we will know the Holy Ghost. We will know the Holy Ghost because He's on the inside of us.

This scripture changed my life.  I started confessing and believing the Words of Jesus. I would say to myself, “Jesus Words are true, He would not lie to me, if He says I know the Holy Ghost, then I know the Holy Ghost. I know the Holy Ghost and I follow Him and He's leading my life”.

Following the leading of the Holy Spirit.

You will find that being led by the inward witness is the number one way, or the primary way, that God leads all of His children.

Romans 8:14-17

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Other translations say:

Romans 8:14

14 The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them.

Romans 8:14

14 For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

What was Paul saying here? He was simply saying, "I always listen to my spirit. I always listen to my heart.  I do what my spirit or my heart tells me to do. I follow that inward witness in my heart.”

The Holy Spirit is always leading us by our heart, by our spirit. Always listen and follow what is deep in your heart. Always follow your heart. Never ignore what your heart is telling you. Can never pray too much in the Holy Spirit. Most of the answers I've received in my life I've been through praying in my new have any language. Paul said in the New Testament, he prays more than everyone else in his heavenly language, the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:18 (NKJV)

18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all…

Jude records in the New Testament that when he prays in his new heavenly language it builds him up. It charges up him up with power, like changing a battery. Power is made available.

Jude 20

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.

Praying in your heavenly language is one of the most important things you can do in prayer.  You can increase your power in prayer 100 percent by praying in the Spirit and in tongues, your heavenly language.

10. 3 Prayer Secrets I have learned about Prayer & Flowing with the Holy Spirit

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. - James 1:17 (AMPC)

Before I gave my life to God, I was in the business world. I was always striving for the best results possible. If I didn't have results, I wasn't moving forward. After I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I wanted to know what the Bible had to say about getting results in my prayer life. I wanted consistent results. If God was the God of the universe then I know He had principles in place that could help me get my prayers answered every time. This is the goal I have always strived to accomplish.

Over the years I believe the Lord has given me three prayer secrets that I use every time I pray. I hope these will bear witness with your heart and help you.

Let us go through these three together:

 #1 - Pray for Unction

Unction brings God's presence, power and results.

1 John 2:20

20 But you have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things.

The first thing I want to talk about is we need to ask for unction when we pray. Unction is knowing what to pray. You have a knowing on the inside which direction to go in prayer.

Unction is praying with accuracy.

Unction is another word for anointing. When we pray, we want to pray with Gods anointing, we want to have God’s anointed words when we pray. We want every single word that we pray to have the touch of God on it. When I mean the touch of God, I mean we want God's presence, power and fire on every word that we pray. We want His accuracy, His function, His anointing, and we want His results. God wants us to have results when we pray. God wants us to have our prayers answered.

Many years ago I was praying for a very sick minister in a foreign country. He was in the hospital in physically bad condition. Many of my friends as well as myself were praying for him. We prayed for him every day. But after two weeks, he didn't get any better. He was still in the hospital. There was no change. He was still physically in bad condition.  I was very hurt and sad because I knew this man personally and I wanted him to get well. After a few weeks I was very frustrated because of my prayers, as well as my friends prayers, were not getting answer we desired. I knew there's nothing wrong with God. He never changes. He's always the same. I must not be praying correctly. There must be something wrong on my end. Because I know God never changes and His perfect will is that that man to be physically well. Now, you have to understand that I pray for my heart, I am a heart man, and I want to see people get healed. And when people don't get healed, it hurts me. And this hurt me really bad that my friend was not getting better.

I went to God and I said, “Father I want accuracy here, I want results, I want to see my friend healed. Something is not right. What am I doing wrong?”  That's when God answered me and asked me a question. I wasn't expecting Him to ask me a question. He asked, “Do you want to be educated in the Spirit? Do you want to learn to follow the unction of the Holy Ghost?” I have never heard statement like this before or anyone ever talk about following the unction of God in prayer before. I said, “Yes, please teach me.” This opened a whole new world to me. It started me on a new journey with God in prayer.  I started studying everything I could on the subject of unction. Unfortunately, there is much more information from 1800’s and early 1900’s on this subject, but not much today. It seemed to me that men and women of older times knew more about unction of God then we do today.

Unction is the Fire God.  It is Touch of God. You know in your heart when it's there, and you know when your heart when it's not there. Unction is hard to describe. The only thing I can say, is you will know unction when you hear it. You know in your heart it's from God. It doesn't come from the intellect. It comes from the spirit and the heart.

It reminds me of story of Jesus after He rose from the dead He was walking with two men on the road to the village of Emmaus. Jesus talked and walked with these two men and sat down and had dinner with them in their home.

We will now look at the scripture and I want you to notice what the two men said about the words Jesus was speaking. Also, I want you to notice that Jesus broke bread with them and then Jesus suddenly vanished.

 Luke 24:31-32

31 Then their eyes were [suddenly] opened [by God] and they [clearly] recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. 32 They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was talking with us on the road and opening the Scriptures to us?”

Did you notice it says, “Their hearts burned within them.” That tells me that the words Jesus spoke were like fire. His words went right straight to the heart of those two men and changed them forever. We want to have words like these in our prayer life. Words of unction that come from the heart and go out and touch the heart of others. This is why we pray for unction.  When I go overseas and hear a bible teacher preach I may not understand the language, but I do understand the power and the fire of unction. I can tell if that preacher has unction when he speaks.  There is unction in that message he has heard from heaven, is preaching a message he is preaching from heaven. It's not intellect. It's from the heart.

Unction is praying with accuracy to get results. I like praying this way because I do not like to waste time. I want to get results when I pray. When I pray in the Holy Ghost, I can just pray in tongues all day. That's edifying. But there is a way to pray with accuracy and unction. There's a way to pray to get answers. You will get answers to prayers quicker by the Spirit of God than any other way you pray. I will use an airport as an illustration of how I pray. An airport has many runways for an airplane to take off and go up into the sky. The control tower of an airport tells the pilot of the airplane which runway they need to take to get that airplane into the sky.  It's the same with God and following unction. God will tell you by the unction, which runway is the best runway for you to pray at that moment of time. God will tell you which word or subject you need to pray for to get your prayers to take off into the sky like an airplane. God knows the exact runway you need every time you pray. That's why we wait sometimes on the unction and for his direction. This way we don't waste time. We go right to the prayer project He has for us and we get the job done.

Here's an example. As I pray, I look to see which word I pam praying has unction on it. Which word has the fire and the touch of God on it. The other day, I was praying for all of our partners in our ministry. All of a sudden one of the names I was praying for had some fire on it. That name stood out. The touch of God was on that name. I had a knowing in my heart that a ministry partner needed some prayer. So I started praying for that partner in the Holy Spirit. I prayed for that partner until I felt a joy my heart, I felt a victory in my heart, I felt accomplishment in my heart. Then I continue to pray for the other partners. It is so fun to pray this way. This is truly being on adventure in prayer.  After you pray, this way, you will not pray any other way.

So, here is how I pray. I say, “Father, I ask you for unction to pray your perfect will, as I pray by the Word of God, and by the Holy Spirit, I pray for Your Words, not my words. In Jesus name,” then I start praying looking for the touch of God on my words and in my heart. When we pray this way this is how we get supernatural results in our prayer life. #2 -

#2 - Pray for Boldness

Boldness is a key to the miraculous.

Proverbs 28:1

The wicked flee when no one pursues,But the righteous are bold as a lion.

I am thoroughly convinced that boldness is one of the keys to live in the miraculous. It is one of the missing ingredients for the life of many a Christian. As Christians we have the faith God has given to us, we have the power God has given to us, we have the Holy Ghost God has given to us, what we need is the boldness to get the job done that God has called us to do.

The Lord taught me years ago to pray for boldness. He told me to personally pray this scripture and to pray two more scriptures that I am going to show you right now. The early church prayed that they would be bold to speak the name of Jesus:

Acts 4:29

29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word.

The results:

31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Paul prays that he would be bold to speak the good news:

Ephesians 6:19

And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.

We see from these scriptures that it’s good to pray for boldness. God is encouraging us to be bold for Him.

Boldness is a very important subject in the bible. As you read these next scriptures you will see its importance and purpose to God’s Plan in the earth. You will also see men and women of God asking God for boldness and He answers them with the power of Boldness.

John 7:26

26 But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ?

Acts 4:13

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 18:26

26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Acts 19:8

8 And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.

Philippians 1:14

14 And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.

1 Thessalonians 2:2

2 You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition.

The early church knew the key to the miraculous was to pray for boldness.

Benaiah the mighty warrior

I like the story in the Bible of Benaiah one of David's mighty men. He was bold for God. This is a good illustration of the results you get when you ask God for boldness. When you pray for boldness you're asking for God's grace and ability to come on your life. Gods boldness will strengthen you and give you the courage of a lion.

2 Samuel 23:20-23

20 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a brave fighter from Kabzeel who did mighty things. He killed two of the best warriors from Moab. He also went down into a pit and killed a lion on a snowy day. 21 Benaiah killed a large Egyptian who had a spear in his hand. Benaiah had a club, but he grabbed the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear. 22 These were the things Benaiah son of Jehoiada did. He was as famous as the Three. 23 He received more honor than the Thirty, but he did not become a member of the Three. David made him leader of his bodyguards.

Benaiah was more than just a part of David’s army and mighty men. David made him the leader of all of his bodyguards. He was personally responsible for keeping David safe. That was one big assignment that needed God’s boldness to accomplish. How much more do we need to pray for boldness in today’s world.

Everything that I have accomplished for God in my life so far has been because I have asked Him for boldness and He gave me His boldness to accomplish it.

If you want to live the life of faith for God you will need His boldness and His courage to accomplish what He has for your life. We need to pray for His boldness. We need to ask God for His boldness. We need to be bold as Lions for Him.

# 3- Casting all of your cares upon the Lord during your prayer time.

1 Peter 5:7

7 Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

This is probably one of the most important prayers we can pray at any time. We also need to be able to cast all of our care on the Lord during our prayer time with Him.

What does this mean? This means that we will have nothing in our hearts or minds that we are thinking about besides our prayer target goals and our focus in prayer is  on God. Cares, worries or concerns have no part in your prayer time with the Lord.

If casting your cares on the Lord is so important in our own everyday lives how much more important is it in our prayer lives? It is extremely important to be able to pray effectually.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

I have learned over the years to cast all my cares on the Lord during my prayer time. I will say, “Lord, wherever you want me to go in prayer I will go. It doesn't matter where you want me to go. I am ready for your adventure for me today in prayer.”

I give God all the Glory for the wonderful and marvelous places He has taken me to in my prayer life. I have been to some very incredible places in prayer because of Him. I believe it is all because I did not care where I would go in prayer. I just consecrated my prayer time to Him. This is where the Fire of God flows from the Holy Ghost. This is where the unction manifests from the Holy Ghost. This is where your adventure will always start and end following the unction of the Holy Ghost. But first, you must learn to cast all your prayer time over to Him. And stay focused.

When I was in Buddhism, they taught me to stay focused on a target with my eyes when I chanted. In this case, it was my scroll that I had on my wall. I would stay focused, staring at the scroll on my wall for three hours chanting Sanskrit translated to English from one of their books. I didn't even understand what I was saying or chanting. This is was not easy at first, but it took time to focus. And after doing this day after day, month after month, year after year, it became easier for me to focus and keep my mind quiet. I still didn't know what I was saying or chanting. Little did I know it was just an intellectual chant.

I learned later on, as I started to learn more about the Buddhism from their priests it was all about the intellect and worshiping every emotion in the universe. It had nothing to do with the heart. I will share more at a further date about this subject.

I have learned to carry this endurance over into my prayer life as a Jesus follower. Only this time I am focusing on my heart, my spirit, and what God wants to bring out of my heart to affect not only my life but those around me.

Cast your cares upon the Lord it opens you up to be carefree in your prayer life and to go to places, God wants you to go to in prayer.

I cannot tell you the numerous times in prayer were the Lord would take me into New York City and pray against a terrorism attack or take me around the world in prayer to affect other peoples lives for good.

I believe this area of prayer is overlooked, but it is really important to having an effective prayer life.

How do you do you pray this way David? Well it's easy, I don't care what I pray for, or how I pray it. I don't care how my tongue sounds, in fact, I'm always looking for new prayer languages in my heavenly language. Sometimes I'll act like I'm praying in Italian, just to bring out a new dialect in my heavenly language. I'm always pressing in with my heart to new areas in realms of prayer. Someday would like to it write more about this subject.

I hope these three ways of a biblical praying will help you in your prayer life. But as always, you need to use the Word of God first when you are praying and flow with the Holy Ghost second. The Lord may have a different way for you to pray than the way I pray, and that is good too.  Just lay hold of it whatever He tells you to do and go forward in your prayer life.

Prayer is a big adventure. Most people don't even get to the first stage of their prayer life. But I know you will. I have great confidence that you will rise to the top in your life in your prayer life. God Bless You!!!!

Conclusion

This is just the beginning.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, - Ephesians 6:18-19 (NKJV)

And pray always with all manner prayer and supplication in the spirit…and watch thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all Saints, - Ephesians 6:18-19 (RGT)

Praying with every-kind-of prayer and petition at every opportunity in the Spirit, - Ephesians 6:18-19 (DLNT)

There are so many more types and ways pray for you to learn to pray from the Bible. This has only been a brief study of God’s Word concerning prayer. As you grow in your walk with God you will see other prayers in the bible that you can pray. Each with his own proper use and will be effective for you in your life.

Here are a few other types of prayer, some of them were included in this book others will come to you during your own personal study: The prayer of faith, the prayer of consecration, the prayer of commitment, the prayer of worship, the prayer of agreement, prayer in the spirit, united prayer, the prayer of supplication, intercessory prayer and praying for your nation.

Remember throughout this book, we said God's Word is God speaking to you. Always put God's word first place in your life and the Holy Spirit second. You will learn as you follow the Holy Spirit He will always put the Word of God first. Holy Spirit is here for us on the Earth don't ever ignore Him. He loves you and wants to spend time with you. Jesus sent Him to this earth just to be with you.

One last note on Prayer. Prayer is simply communicating with God. Prayer is praying God's Word. Prayer is praying with the Holy Spirit. Prayer is praying in your new heavenly language. Prayer is an adventure with God.

I trust and hope this book has been a blessing to you. My heart was to enable you with whatever tools I could to help you go further in your life with God than you ever dreamed possible. My heart for writing this book was to give everything I knew out of my heart to you. There's so much there, but I hope these basics are helpful for you. I also hope in the future you'll be able to use this book and give it away to someone who needs to learn a little bit more about prayer.

I am saying to you with all my heart, do what God has called you to do, and whatever He's put in your heart is what He wants you to do. Go with God in your life and the great adventure He has for you. He loves you so much!

Much love and blessings to you,  David
